An Extremely Easy Registry Cleaner
30 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Other, Software Info
I found this on the Buzz. RegCleaner is a free and easy to use program which will let you pick and choose what you don’t want in your registry (clean out all the junk files), including what runs on start-up which is a problem area for many.
I just used it no problem (took about 5 minutes). Quick to download, install and run. Well, OK, I had to go into explorer to manually run it, but it’s actually better that way (one less thing on the start menu).
Free Opera Browser Today
30 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: News, Other, Software Info
We’re all about free as students, so here’s a chance for one more thing. Opera, a browser that normally costs $39, is free today as they celebrate a 10 year anniversary.
All you gave to do is download Opera and then send an email to registerme@opera.com to obtain a registration code, or go to this website. This offer expires August 31, 12 a. m. PDT

Sign On-Line Petitiion To Include Install Media With Tablet PCs
30 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: News
Here’s my effort to try to help. If you’re reading this right now, please go over and sign this petition (you can catch up by reading the below links). Basically, Microsoft needs to include the operating system CDs with each tablet. Right now all that is included is the recovery CDs, which is not the same.
(From TabletPCBuzz) An Online Petition has been created to mandate the inclusion of recovery media with purchase of any Tablet PC from any licensed OEM

Back to School Requests (Fall ‘05 Edition)
29 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Blog Related
Thought I’d see if there were any pressing questions (or even just normal questions) our readers have about anything Tablet PC and/or student related for the beginning of the regular school year (if we’ve already covered it but you still want more, just say, "I’d like more on…").
Remember, we might not be able to get to everything if there’s a lot of requests, but we’ll try ^_^.
I like hearing suggestions so don’t be bashful!!!
Win a Fujitsu Tablet PC
29 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Contests/Give-aways, Low Budget Tablets
Play this little game on Fujitsu’s website for a chace to win a Fujitsu Tablet PC (or $50,000 home/office makeover).
I didn’t win anything, but good luck ^_^.
(I love Loren Heiny’s, "They had me at Tablet PC.")
Feel Better in Felt
28 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Accessories, Tips / Tricks
Looking for more friction while writing on the screen? For grins I ordered the $4.95 set of five felt nibs offered by Wacom to see if they’d help any. After using them for a month, I can certainly say I’m liking the feel.
The felt tips (it’s like the normal plastic nib with a very thin felt coating over it) make for a softer, quieter touch on the screen which I like since the tapping the plastic nibs make in a quiet class can get annoying (it’s not THAT bad, but if we’re being perfectionists here…). While the friction is only increased by a small amount, I say the upgrade is well worth the $4.95 I paid (well, plus shipping which was something like $10 which makes no sense when you see what they shipped).
My Office Depot Run
28 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Organization, Tablet Concepts
So what does a student who keeps most of everything on her tablet buy for school supplies? Here’s my list of what I picked up today. (Last year all papers ended up at the bottom of the backpack and I vow to be better about it this year).
1" Binder - To keep random papers, handouts, and homework until they can either be digitized or filed away (I can’t throw stuff out. I’m a natural pack rat).
Dividers - For the binder, one section for each class.
Site of the Moment: Tablet PC TiddlyWiki
28 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Websites
I’ve been going through and updating all my tablet links and I found a couple I either forgot about or heard of but never visited. This one was so cool I couldn’t resist but posting about it.
The Tablet PC TiddlyWiki is a neat little site that have a cool interface along with simply being cool because it’s a Wiki (a dynamic webpage anyone can edit). You can download everything on the site as one file for on the go or personal editing, and it also has a lot of info already in it. If nothing else it’s fun to click the links to see the animations ^_^.
Why I’m Now a Toshiba Owner
25 August 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Choosing a Tablet PC, Tracy's Updates
Some of you may know from my post on TabletPCBuzz that I ordered a Toshiba Portege M200 and I will be selling my M1300VA as soon as it gets here and I get settled in (again…). I have a couple reasons, and I thought I’d share so others who are having trouble deciding can maybe figure it out.
(I was just going to make this strictly slate v. convertible, but I’ll also add in why I chose the M200).
Summary:
1. I type a LOT.
2. Over 90% of typing is done not at a table or desk.
3. I want that "normality" option.
4. Touch typing is not great on abnormal keyboards.
5. Not everyone is comfy with the TIP.
6. Wide angle viewing.
7. More bang for your buck.
8. Now, why the M200, exactly?
