Have a back-up strategy for the new year
29 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Back-Up / Restore
With the holidays upon us and with most students inbetween semesters, right now is a great time to either refine or create a back-up strategy for the new year. I highly, highly suggest heading over to TabletPCBuzz.com to take a look at their "Back-up Strategies and Tools" thread that has several ideas to pull from. I’m no role model on back-up strategies, so I’ll just say I use a Maxtor 80 GB external hard drive (it’s my catch-all) and my new iPod (so I have a back-up of my school files with me on campus).
Eric Mack: Is scanning your books legal?
27 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Digital Books
Much of our discussion revolves around scanning textbooks for use on a Tablet PC (we are students, after all). We’ve had people take these discussions as a way to beat the system and share textbooks like MP3s (old-school-Napster style). We’ve also had people wonder if this idea of scanning textbooks was legal at all, even without sharing.

Interesting Combo: Tablet PC + WebCam (+ iPod Video)
26 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Accessories, Tips / Tricks
I got a cool Christmas present: a Creative notebook web cam. Small, sleek, fits on the screen while in tablet mode, and has a pretty good picture quality. Now I can record audio and video lectures. Sweet. Imagine using this with OneNote’s sync capabilities.
Since I don’t use OneNote, I’m thinking more along the lines of using my new iPod video (woohoo!) and have the lectures playing while doing homework and studying. There’s a limited amount of time I can pay attention to an audio recording of a lecture (especially since I’m a visual person), but audio and visual should help keep my attention while studying. I don’t know about your classes, but it’s amazing how much you can learn by just hearing and understanding what your lecturer is telling you. So many people just rely on the book and miss so much because of it.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
24 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Blog Related

It’s now officially Christmas day where I am, so Merry Christmas to everyone, and happy holidays to those celebrating other holidays this season. As JK mentioned, gadgets and gifts are nice, but the things that really matter are found with those you love, not under the tree. Don’t forget to count your blessings, and don’t forget to share your love this wonderful holiday season.
God bless!

30 Tips for a Tight Budget
19 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Low Budget Tablets
Finals are over so now I can finally relax and get back to fun stuff!
One thing that’s important to students (usually) is saving money, but few know how or where to save when it comes to electronics. It’s time to point out some tips for those short on a short budget (or for those who simply like to save). Feel free to share your own tip as a comment, or use the tips to save some extra holiday cash ^_^.

It’s finals week
12 December 2005 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Tracy's Updates
Things will be a little sluggish this week (kinda like last week) because this week is finals week (five tests, and one class thanks to icy weather last Thursday). Last week was the week before finals, which was almost worse than this week, but then the ice hit and I got two days off (woohoo!) so now it’s this week that’s bad, heh.
Anyway, I think Andrew has finals this week, and I’m willing to bet half our student readers do too, so, good luck!
