Abe Lincoln’s Productivity Secret

Brad Issac at the Achieve-IT! blog has a great post on "sharpening the ax." I pay close attention to this blog because I really think it has great information for those of us who like to set goals and improve personal productivity.

In this article he addresses the problem of trying to shortcut our tasks and why that often makes them take longer. In light of many of us trying to go paperless–or whatever our current goal is–it is important to find the right tool for the task. Taking the time to research and explore many different options for software and hardware is a great way to "sharpen the ax" and provide less hassle in the long run.

What a long week! I would like to congratulate my team, the Seahawks, for making it to the Superbowl. Way to be!

This week, I did one of my Statics homework in OneNote and then printed it out on the E2 paper so that I could turn it in. It was one heck of a challenge because all the drawings we do are supposed to be neat and straight, using the appropriate tools. Needless to say, all the tools I needed were not in OneNote. It also took quite a bit longer to do it on the computer. Here’s how it turned out: DCGN261

First day with OneNote

Thanks for all the support and “I told you so” comments ^_^. Last night I spent some quality time with the Send to OneNote tool (from the Education Pack) and managed to move everything into OneNote in about an hour. I still have my contacts and schedule in GoBinder, but it’s a start.

I ended up making a folder for each class under one big folder called “Classes” (the default one), then a section under each class named along the lines of, “Book,” “Homework,” “Notes,” and “TA Session.” One section for each class just wasn’t enough division for me.

I’ll give OneNote one more shot

25 January 2006 Posted By: Tracy
Posted in: OneNote

After talking to Eric last night and after getting frustrated with the GoBinder beta today (I had 600+ MB in RAM displaced by the program and my computer kept freezing and draining the battery in class), I decided to give OneNote another shot. I know there’s this thing with .net 2.0 where the program apparently takes all the RAM it can find but doesn’t really use it, but that’s just ridiculous.

Chad Essley, cartoonmonkey, has done a captivating review of ArtRage 2.0 and compared it to Alias Sketchbook Pro. Great stuff. I think I might just buy the new ArtRage (a free version is available still, but more features are in the $20 version).
