Welcome to the new site!!!
31 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Blog Related
If you are reading this, then that means we made a successful switch to the new WordPress site from MovableType (which is a lot harder than it sounds…)!
Feel free to browse around. We have a few new features including a Beginner’s Guide, Site Help, Gallery (more photos to be uploaded later), and Glossary (which is still under construction, sorry).
The forums will be styled to match the new site as soon as I get a chance, and we’re still figuring out what to do with the software page ^_^. Other than that, if you see any broken links or funny quirks that don’t quite look right, please jot an email to tracy at studenttabletpc dot com.
TEO 3.0: Out of beta with student pricing!
28 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Software Info
If you were at all intrigued by my article on TEO, I highly suggest you check out the newly released TEO 3.0 (it’s out of beta now!). Even if you have no idea why you would need TEO (and if you don’t, I suggest checking out it’s website one more time), just give it a try and see what it’s like.
If you were intrigued before but couldn’t justify the cost while you’re still living on noodle soup, it’s now more affordable to a student budget at $29.99 from $49.99. I think you just need to fax a copy of your student ID to the number at the bottom of the “Buy” page.
New Mindjet Addins + Contest
28 July 2006 Posted By: TrevorPosted in: MindManager
Mindjet Labs puts out several new add-ins for MindManager a year. I’d like to tell you about two of the newer ones: the Presenter Add-in and the Route Planner Add-in also known as is Trip Route Mapping with Microsoft Virtual Earth (quite a mouthful). Let’s discuss these add-ins…
Update: A video demonstration of the Trip Planner add-in can be viewed here
Also, don’t miss your chance to win some Google swag at the end of the article!
Motion tech support number needed (all better, sorta)
25 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Tracy's Updates
I’m having some trouble with my extended battery and need to contact Motion Support. I hate going through e-mail forms for tech support, and when I call the numbers listed on the Motion support website (866-322-9783 and 866-622-6340), I get a wrong number message. I’m hoping someone out there in the tablet world can give me the right number, or one that works, by posting a comment or sending me a quick e-mail. It could just be my phone, but I can call other people, so who knows. I’ll keep trying in the meantime. I’m sure I could call around and eventually get through to someone, but we’ll try it this way first. The number seems to be working again. Either is was my phone or brief problems, but whatever, it’s working again ^_^.
Tablets on the Disney channel
21 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: News
Lol, this is hilarious, and kinda neat. I’m watching the Disney channel (I’m just a little bored) and in their movie “Read it and Weep,” it looks like the main character is keeping her journal using an Gateway M275 and since the movie’s focused around her journal, the tablet’s in almost every shot. This should get more than one kid’s attention on Tablet PCs. By the way, she’s using Journal and it looks like she’s also using it in class.
And the winner is…

Tablets at High School
19 July 2006 Posted By: AndrewPosted in: News
Kevin C. Tofel from jkOnTheRun writes, “De La Salle Institute in Chicago is the latest school to take up the Tablet PC in the classroom. Students will lease the tablets for $56 monthly over a 46 month period, so clearly, this school has their sights set on Tablet PC adoption for the full high-school experience.”
It’s exciting to see Tablets start to appear in high schools. I’ll be curious to see what the penetration is in five years.
I’m lovin’ it
12 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Tracy's Updates
Just a quick post to say that I’m LOVING my LE1600! I just ordered the extended battery today, so I’m waiting to get that in to do battery-life tests for the review. This review I’m working on is turning out to be really long and I have no clue when I’ll be ready to post it (I need to play with my tablet more!), but it’s on its way!
And, no, we haven’t forgotten about the header contest. With Trev all grown up (sniffle) and with both Andrew and I having internships, we’ve been quite busy lately! As soon as we can all decide on a winner, we’ll let you know ^_^.
Why I’m going back to a slate
7 July 2006 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Choosing a Tablet PC, Tracy's Updates
I’m sitting here in the Salt Lake City airport with three hours to kill (I already downed one by going shopping) and then three more hours on a plane, so I actually have a chance to write an article I’ve long promised: why I’m trying a slate (again).
But first, may I remind my audience that the opinions posted in this article are my opinions and only my opinions. They are not the opinions of the entire tablet and/or student community. Thank you, and, please, continue reading ^_^.
