Student Tablet PC Taking Applications for Author Position

5 April 2007Posted By: Tracy

I think we need some fresh blood here. Between school and busy college lives, we’re having trouble keeping the site as active as we’d like.

Instead of letting it just suffer a slow, painful decline, we’re opening up the lines for an additional author. Maybe we just need help ^_^.

Why would you want this position as STPC author?

What would it require?

So how do you apply?

Deadline is Saturday, April 21st, 2007. That’s getting close to finals time, so don’t wait until the last minute to get it in!

Good luck!

    Do graduate students qualify?

finally… This site has become useless b/c you guys hardly post anything anymore. But even you hardly do a post every three days, sometimes you dont post for a week…are you looking for someone to just take over?? i hope so, maybe the site will actually become a blog again!!!

  5. Tracy Says:

Big Wes - Yup, grad students apply ^_^

mee - I’m sorry you feel that way, but the idea of getting an author to help is so that we bring more life to the site and I don’t want to bring an additional person on just to have them post once a month. It’s not like we’d “fire” someone that posted once a week because they got busy, but it’d be nice if they pulled their weight for a while.

I’m not willing to let my grades suffer just so I can fit in a post every day. I also don’t want to post crappy copy-cat posts that don’t add anything to the conversation just so I can say I posted something. This blog is what it is and I can’t help it if both Andrew and I happened to reach a busy junior year at the same time and that Trev graduated. This is my busiest semester I will have and the rest I’ll just be taking minimum course work. Give me a break.

    mee,

Likewise, we created this site both as an information source and community.

I’m sorry that I can’t really contribute anymore, but what can I say, work takes a lot of my time. I’ve been on the road since last Saturday and won’t get home until Sunday night. Not that I don’t love it, but my time is hardly my own any more.

  8. Rob Says:

    Trev/Tracy/Andrew,

Ummmm don’t sweat it. You do a great job. Keep it up.

  9. Andrew Says:

Thanks Rob, that means a lot. I know we’ve been kind of lacking on the posts, but trust me when I say that school has been killing me (in the figurative sense) and probably Tracy too.

Does a co-op student count? I’m not actually going to be in school for the next 8 months… but that just means I have even more free time.

  11. Tracy Says:

    Ha, sure :).

Mee, you are so out of line. Tracy, Andrew, Trev, I’m just going to echo what Rob says…you guys have done exceptionally well so far and if you need to bow out or wind your involvment down, then do…change is a part of life and most of us here are thankful for all the FREE advice you’ve made availible and will understand. Good luck.

I hope you find one or two new contributors to take the weight off. Or even more. I think many readers would like to see pieces by contributors in a variety of majors, as each major has some different ways of using a tablet. For instance, as an art history major, I could have done better (searchable) notetaking in class, with pictures included, but I don’t use a lot of tablet features to write my dissertation. I’d like to get an idea of how I could make good use of it in teaching, though, and what to recommend for my students.
