OneNote 2007 Tip: Extending Battery Life

I haven’t had many battery life problems this semester except for every Friday where I had 4 consecutive lectures. 4 hours is a continuous stretch for any tablet taking notes and I struggled in the more writing intensive lectures.

Here is another setting change you can make in OneNote 2007. Tools>Options>Other>Battery Options and you can select a number of different levels from maximum performance to maximum battery life.

Keep in mind though that changing this effects the things that OneNote does in the background to make things more efficient but if that extra 15 minutes is critical for your note taking then give this a try.

OneNote battery options: eek out more battery life…

Here’s a OneNote setting I never stumbled across but William at The Student Tablet PC did: you can reduce the frequency of OneNote background activities to stretch that battery just a wee bit farther. Remember that similar to Vista and Windows Desktop…

Another great power-saving that I’m sure Tracy may have mentioned previously on here is to re-program one of your TabletPC’s buttons to turn off the screen (bringing the stylus to the screen usually turns it back on). I started doing this about a year ago, during lulls in lectures, tutorials and seminars when no notetaking was required. It’s amazing how much juice you conserve.
