CES 2008: Toshiba Protégé M700

I didn’t get as much time as I hoped with this on, but it sure is a powerhouse for only 4.6 lbs. You can get a 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo which is pretty sweet for a tablet with dual touch and pen. I really liked my M200 and it seems they’ve only improved the series. Call me greedy, but I do wish it was lighter since it only has a 12.1″ screen.

So would you say the difference in weight between the X61 and the M700 is significant?

Just got an M200 2 days ago to replace my Fujitsu st4110 that was too ridiculously loud to use in a class… Being a starving grad student means I tend to run a couple of years behind in technology :-)

This one looks good too - although if I really had the cash for a new Tablet I would probably go with the R400…

Loving the M200 so far though! :-)

Hm, I would say that you would notice the difference, but you’ll also notice the lack of media bay when you go to install software. It’s all on usage how much you’ll notice the difference. For instance, I was able to carry my X61 in my arm all around CES to take notes on, but it was right on the edge of being too heavy for comfort. The M700 likely would have been too heavy.

This doesn’t look too indifferent to my M400 (in terms of looks anyway). I bet it’s fan is quieter though? [grins!!]

I’ve got one of these on the way for work, so I’ll post a review on the forums once I’ve had a chance to play with it.
