Tablet PC & UMPC User Meet-up in Las Vegas during CES, Jan 8th
4 December 2007 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Other
I’m getting more excited about CES by the day, now that I’m attending for once! I wouldn’t miss this meet-up for anything so you can count me in (along with my tablet-using fiancé who I’ll be dragging along :-D). Leave a message here if you plan on attending, wherever it is, or RSVP on Facebook or below.
Enthusiasts, users, OEMs, ISVs, IHVs are invited to attend the fifth Tablet PC & UMPC Community Gathering. The annual gathering takes place during 2008 International CES. It has been an excellent place for people to share information about new products, tips on existing products, and enjoy meeting people involved in the community.
Adding RAM and the Memory Configurator
5 October 2007 Posted By: AndrewPosted in: Other
It’s been a pretty hectic last few weeks, a handful of exams and lots of homework.
A couple weeks ago, I added some more RAM to my tablet, Apollo. Apollo originally had 512MB (2x 256MB); a couple years ago I added a gig stick, bringing the total to 1280 (1x 1GB, 1x 256MB). Over the last few months, I was frequently going into my paged memory. So I decided to add another gig of RAM, bringing the total to 2GB (2x 1GB).
…and then there were three!!

Hi All! Thanks for all the warm greetings!!! I thought I’d better follow suit and get the formalities out of the way. I’m not stunningly attractive like Will so there’s no bio pic from me I’m afraid. The fact that Frank hasn’t posted one either perhaps speaks for itself…only j/king Frank :o)
Well if you don’t know me already I’m Robert and I should maybe get something clear from the outset. I’m officially the oldest member so that also officially means I bring the most sophistication and maturity to the team. Ok? :o)
A Newbie Has Cometh: Let there be Digital Ink
23 April 2007 Posted By: FrankPosted in: Other
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Thanks STPC fraternity for taking me in. I hope there isn’t some crazy pledge ritual still waiting to be endured; being a tech geek extraordinaire should be enough.
So my name is Frank and digital ink is great. That’s an opinion coming from a student deeply involved in technology that will aid in not only learning but retaining what has been learned.
I’m Will and I’m a Tabletoholic
22 April 2007 Posted By: WilliamPosted in: Other
Hi everyone, I’m Will and I am excited to say that I am a new author here at Student Tablet PC.
I’m studying Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Adelaide, Australia and use a Toshiba M200 as my daily tablet. I have a strong passion for technology and have been into Tablet PCs for a long time. I have owned numerous PDAs and actually have made my own slate out of a old Compaq Aero. I love DIY and pushing technology beyond its intentions and limits. I also successfully run my own business in computer services including tutoring, repairs, upgrades and sales. This means that I am always up to date with current technologies and get lots of people’s feedback and experiences in using computers every day.
LS800 Guts

Ever wanted to peer inside your Tablet but didn’t want to void your warranty? Now you don’t have to, thanks to Under the Hood. They’ve taken apart a pristine Motion Computing’s LS800 and spec’d it out from top to bottom. Oggle over the pretty picture or read the short two page article below.

Texas Instruments Calculator on Your Tablet
3 March 2006 Posted By: AndrewPosted in: Other
stonz52 asks where he can get a TI calculator for use on his Tablet.
Having at TI calculator on your computer is very handy. I’ve been using Virtual TI by Rusty Wagner for 3 years now, even before I had a Tablet. You can download Virtual TI for free from TICalc.org at http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/84/8442.html.
However, in order to use VTI, you will need the ROM image from your calculator. This is easier said than done and requires a Computer/TI Data Connection cable, which most users probably don’t have. Instead, you can do a quick Google search for your calculator model and the word “ROM”. You should easily be able to find what you’re looking for.
ArtRage 2.0 Comparison
24 January 2006 Posted By: TrevorPosted in: Other
Chad Essley, cartoonmonkey, has done a captivating review of ArtRage 2.0 and compared it to Alias Sketchbook Pro. Great stuff. I think I might just buy the new ArtRage (a free version is available still, but more features are in the $20 version).

ActiveWords Overview
1 January 2006 Posted By: TrevorPosted in: Other
Now that Buzz has essentially made activewords free to all tablet users (link)[Correction: The free ActiveWords offer expired on 12/31/05. ActiveWords does offer a generous 60-day trial, and the program is WELL worth the money], now’s the time to check it out. I also figured that there would be a lot of new activeword users, and I wanted to help get them up to speed and introduce them to some of the more powerful functions of activewords. More after the jump…
