Today is the beginning of the end as I start the first day of my last semester. Have a great spring semester to all!
A note about the timing of posts
12 January 2008 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Blog Related
I have CES posts that I wasn’t able to get out during CES. Tuesday night I started a cough and then it turned into a nasty cold Wednesday and Thursday (and Friday and today still).
This means for you that while I did write posts, I didn’t have the energy to search out an internet connection. Now that I’m back home, problem solved, and I can get back to posting.
The Site Should Work Again..Sorry About That…
7 January 2008 Posted By: TracyPosted in: Blog Related
Sorry for the downtime. We had a problem with the switch but it’s all fixed now. The wiki doesn’t work perfectly yet, but all the info is still there, don’t worry. The forums never really should have been down, as far as I could tell. Oh, and the links on the sidebar still need to be updated to the old links. But the old links needed updated anyway :-D.
Thanks for staying tuned! Let me know if you notice something broken!
Excuse us as we switch hosts
4 January 2008 Posted By: adminPosted in: Blog Related
You may have had trouble with the site the last month or so–which was our old host’s doing–including WordPress errors and connection problems. This is one reason why we switched hosts (we’re now on Bluehost.com). Hopefully those problems will disappear and any new problems you have will be due to kinks in the switch, which are fixable.
Thanks for your patience. Happy new year!
Merry Christmas to all of our readers

Sorry for my post drought!!
20 December 2007 Posted By: RobertPosted in: Blog Related
Hi All. I just wanted to pop on to say hello and to apologise for my personal post drought of late. Frustratingly due to seminar meetings, a major essay on fourteenth-century battle tactics, a full-blown presentation on the Battle of Crecy and my ongoing dissertation on caliphal mosque development my head has been well and truly buried in the academic ’sand’ for the past few weeks. I just marvel at how the guys ‘n’ gals over at places like GottaBeMobile and jkOnTheRun etc. manage to hold down jobs AND blog so often. Well however they manage it, I really do salute them for it.
Delldirect Defends Latitude XT
20 December 2007 Posted By: WilliamPosted in: Blog Related
Despite one of the most major developments in Tablets in recent months, the Latitude XT being released, StudentTabletPc.com has been relatively quiet about the whole thing. Not because its not a great tablet, it is, its just that its priced quite prohibitively for students. Nonetheless, Dell has tried to make it quite clear where the advantages are compared to the two other rivals. They even made a chart however no matter what way I look at it still puts the X61t out in front. Have a read yourself and be sure to check the comments.
Amtek iTablet T221
19 December 2007 Posted By: WilliamPosted in: Blog Related

If this turns out to be what it says on the spec sheet and looks like it does in the picture, this could be getting close to what the ultimate tablet would be. Of course everyone’s definition of ultimate varies but if yours looks like the picture above and has a 12.1-inch XGA display, an active digitizer, resistive touchscreen, a 1.2GHz Intel Core Duo CPU, up to 2GB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, 802.11a/b/g, and a GMA 950 graphics chipset then Amtek has the computer for you.
Multitouch your computer
10 December 2007 Posted By: WilliamPosted in: Blog Related
I saw this up on Hack a day a few days ago but didn’t pay much attention to it but when a friend of mine forced me to watch it I got right into it. Superhero Johnny Chung Lee uses a Wiimote and some infrared pens to create a multitouch input panel out of any display. Watch to the end for some m200 multitouch action. Im thinking of giving this a go later today so if I have some cool results I’ll let you know.
We’re praying for you, Marc
